Get Paid Quicker with WriteUpp + Stripe

We’re always striving to find ways to eradicate time-sapping admin from your practice so that you can spend more time with your clients.

High on the list of jobs that we hate most is invoicing and let’s face it even fewer of us like chasing for payment.

By working with Stripe we’ve streamlined the payment process and we plan to extend this in the future to online booking.

What is Stripe?

Stripe is the simplest and most cost-effective way to accept payments online. Unlike other payment providers,  Stripe was built from the ground up to enable online businesses (like us) to integrate payment directly into our software. In many cases, you might not even know that you’re transacting through Stripe but, as you will see from their customer list below, they’ve been pretty successful since they set up in 2011.

They’re based in San Francisco and have received around $450 million in funding to date; investors include Sequoia Capital, Visa, American Express, Peter Thiel, and Elon Musk.

They process billions of dollars a year for thousands of businesses, from newly-launched start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Here are just a few examples:

Getting Started

To start taking payment in WriteUpp (via Stripe) all need to do is:

  • Connect Stripe to your WriteUpp account – Read More
  • Insert a pay button and/or pay link in your invoice footer and/or email invoice template – Read More
  • Generate an invoice for your client’s treatment and email it to them – Read More

How does it work for your clients?

When your client receives your invoice in their inbox they will see something like this:

If they click on the link in the email or the button/link in the attached invoice they will be taken to a screen like this branded with your practice logo and name:

To make it super easy to complete this form we’ve included an address lookup so it shouldn’t take more than 30 seconds for your client to enter their details and complete payment. Once they have paid they will be taken to another branded screen confirming payment.

How do you know when you’ve been paid?

When your client has completed payment the invoice will be automatically marked as “Paid by Stripe” in WriteUpp and it will include contact details of the cardholder in case they are different from the client.

We’ll also notify you that payment has been received via the WriteUpp notifications at the top right of the desktop application.

All payments will be collected into your connected Stripe account (net of fees) where you can either hold them or withdraw them to your business bank account.

What does it cost?

To take payment (via Stripe) in WriteUpp you will be charged your local Stripe fee + 0.5%. So, for example, if your local Stripe fees are 1.4% + 20p/transaction you will be charged 1.9% + 20p/transaction.

All fees are deducted by Stripe.
